Biography

Ronghui Xu is a Professor at the University of California, San Diego, where she specializes in Family and Preventive Medicine with a focus on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. Dr. Xu completed her Master's degree in Applied Mathematics in 1995 and earned her PhD in Mathematics in 1996 from the same institution. She initially worked as a post-graduate researcher at the UCSD Cancer Center within the Department of Mathematics before advancing to an Assistant Professorship in 1997 at Harvard School of Public Health, also contributing to the Department of Biostatistical Science at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Xu returned to UCSD in 2004 as an Associate Professor, continuing her work within the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health as well as the Department of Mathematics. She has received the David P. Byar Young Investigator Award and is a fellow of the American Statistical Association. Dr. Xu leads the Biostatistics unit at the UCSD Clinical Translational Research Institute, which is partially funded by the NIH Clinical Translational Science Award. Her research includes serving as the lead statistician for the Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS) Collaborative Research Center and conducting studies on topics such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and vaccine medication during pregnancy surveillance.
