Biography

Rongrong Qi is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Robertson group at the University of Warwick since July 2024. His research focuses on ferroelectric 2D materials, utilizing in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to investigate properties and applications. His cutting-edge work aims to deepen the understanding of how materials behave at the atomic level, with potential implications for advanced electronic devices. He completed his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Manchester, where he explored the properties of quantum magnetic devices and angstrom-scale fluidics under the supervision of Professor Radha Boya. His work in Manchester revolved around the fabrication and characterization of nanoscale devices, particularly focusing on spintronics and magnetism in two-dimensional materials. This experience has honed his expertise in advanced microscopy techniques, device fabrication, and material characterization, which he applies in his postdoctoral research. Before embarking on his PhD journey, he obtained a Master’s degree in Microelectronics Solid-State Electronics from Jilin University in China, where he focused on developing gas humidity sensors. This provided him significant experience in semiconductor device fabrication and sensor technology, laying the foundation for his interest in 2D materials and their applications in electronic devices. His passion for exploring frontier materials science continues to drive his research, particularly in the unique properties of 2D materials leveraged to develop new technologies with far-reaching applications, including next-generation memory devices and flexible electronics.
