Ronny Hadani is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Master of Science in computer science and applied mathematics from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1998, where he was supervised by David Harel. He obtained his Ph.D. in pure mathematics from Tel Aviv University in 2006, under the guidance of Joseph Bernstein. Before joining UT Austin, Hadani served as an L.E. Dickson Instructor at the University of Chicago. He became an assistant professor in 2009 and was promoted to associate professor shortly after. Hadani’s research interests cover representation theory, algebraic D-modules, harmonic analysis, signal processing, mathematical physics, and three-dimensional cryo-electron microscopy. In 2010, he co-founded Cohere Technologies, a wireless startup focused on improving wireless communications using Orthogonal Time Frequency Space modulation and Delay-Doppler models for enhancing spectrum performance in 4G and 5G networks. Throughout his career, he has been awarded 70 patents related to OTFS technology and has collaborated with notable companies like C Spire and Deutsche Telekom. His research delves deep into the mathematical framework underlying various applications, striving to develop innovative paradigms in non-linear optimization and tackle significant problems in structural biology, particularly in the context of three-dimensional macromolecular structures derived from noisy projection images obtained through electron microscopy.
