Rory Gibb is an ecologist and epidemiologist whose research seeks to understand the changes in climate and ecological social systems. He combines these factors to drive infectious disease transmission in both people and animals. His work applies computational data science approaches to study the general principles of infection within complex social-ecological systems, measure the impacts of climate and ecosystem change on wildlife populations and disease dynamics, and identify critical system drivers of high-consequence infections, particularly those transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks, and rodents. He is motivated by the desire to apply fundamental insights on the relationship between ecological change and disease to improve human and ecosystem health. Rory has collaborated with national and international health research and policy organizations to support outbreak preparedness and planning. His work is supported by the UCL Wolfson Excellence Fellowship (2024-present) and the Royal Society University Research Fellowship (commencing January 2026).
