Biography

Rory Gillis joined the Faculty of Law at Western University as an Assistant Professor in 2021. His research focuses on tax law, public law, and comparative law, with articles published in leading peer-reviewed law journals, including the American Journal of Comparative Law and the University of Toronto Law Journal. Rory is a co-author of the book 'Canadian Income Tax Law, 7th ed' (LexisNexis, 2023). Prior to his appointment at Western, he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Rory holds a SJD (Doctorate of Law) from the University of Toronto and earned his BA (summa cum laude) and JD from Yale University, where he also served as Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal. Rory has practiced law in Toronto and has clerked for Justice Morris Fish at the Supreme Court of Canada. His teaching includes courses on Income Taxation, Constitutional Law, and the Social Policy Tax & Transfer System.
