Biography

Rosalia Moreddu is a Lecturer at the University of Southampton, where she leads the Biophysics Engineering Group since November 2024. Her research interests are centered around developing measurement technologies for biophysics platforms utilizing electrical mechanical cues to interrogate and control cellular states, with applications in medicine and artificial intelligence. Moreddu previously held the position of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the Italian Institute of Technology, where she introduced research lines in cancer bioelectronics and cell electromechanics. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and a Master's Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Before her PhD, she worked as an engineer at CERN in Switzerland, focusing on microfluidic technologies for particle detection. Throughout her career, she has acquired additional research training in France, Taiwan, and the USA, and has founded the Bioelectricity Cluster organization. Moreddu serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Bioelectricity and is an expert reviewer for various organizations including the Swiss National Science Foundation and the European Commission. She has delivered over 20 invited talks internationally and is a co-inventor on a patent. Additionally, she was the founder of the Entrepreneur First-backed startup, Dromadis Health.
