Biography

Rosamunde Bordo is a sessional lecturer and interdisciplinary artist whose work encompasses drawing, printmaking, creative writing, video, sculpture, and performance installation. Her practice employs narrative, amateur detective work, and material-based research to explore self-created subjects. Bordo's research interests include detective fiction, fugitive identities, feminist storytelling, and the role of fiction in contemporary art practice, as well as Surrealism. Her current work makes use of an enigmatic alter ego that increasingly becomes real through her artistic interventions. Bordo received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Print Media from Concordia University in Montréal. She has completed artist residencies in both Canada and Europe, including at Fyns Grafiske Vaerksted in Denmark, and is a recipient of several awards and grants, including from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Audain Travel Award, and the Andrew MacIntosh Memorial Book Prize in Fine Arts from AHVA. Her exhibitions have been held at notable venues like CSA Space and the Morris & Helen Belkin Gallery in Vancouver, and her works are included in both private and public collections.
