Biography

Rosanne van Alebeek is an Associate Professor of International Law in the Department of International and European Law and a Research Fellow at the Amsterdam Center for International Law (ACIL) at the University of Amsterdam. She is the Programme Director for the Master's in International and European Law focusing on Public International Law, and Academic Coordinator for International Programmes at the Amsterdam Law School. Van Alebeek holds a Master's degree in Public International Law (cum laude) from Leiden University, a Master's in International and European Law (cum laude) from Oxford University, and a Research Master from Oxford University (cum laude). She obtained her Doctorate from Leiden University (cum laude) in 2006. Her research interests encompass a range of topics within international law, particularly immunity law, the immunity of state officials concerning international crimes, and the role of domestic courts in shaping international law. She has published numerous articles on these subjects in reputable legal journals and has contributed chapters to important legal texts. Besides her academic work, she serves as a vice-chair on the Advisory Committee concerning Public International Law issues for the Netherlands Government.
