Dr. Roslyn Satchel

Biography

Roslyn Satchel is a womanist scholar-activist rooted in the Pan-African Studies tradition, examining human rights, civic engagement, and the intersections of social movements, race, socioeconomic status, ethics, gender, ability, access, media, history, and law. She has garnered a reputation as an influential keynote speaker and thought leader, focusing on how media and tech ownership impact content, policy, and public interest, advocating for justice and equity. Dr. Satchel holds a tenured full professorship at the School of Communication and Media at Kennesaw State University and is the inaugural lead researcher at the Radow Institute for Social Equity. Her extensive background as a community organizer spans over 30 years and includes collaborations across South Africa, the Caribbean, Thailand, India, Ghana, Kenya, and the United States. Dr. Satchel has received numerous accolades, with her work featured by major media outlets like CNN and Newsweek. She earned her PhD from Louisiana State University, JD from Emory University, and BA from Howard University. Additionally, she is an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and was previously the Executive Director of the National Center for Human Rights Education. Known for her innovative and courageous leadership, Dr. Satchel mobilizes diverse communities toward transformative social outcomes.
