Biography

Ross Beveridge is a Senior Lecturer in Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow with diverse teaching and research interests in the fields of urban politics and governance. He is an interdisciplinary urbanist, having studied History at the University of Manchester and International Studies at Newcastle University. His doctoral project focused on the politics of urban development and privatisation in 1990s Berlin, supported by EU-funded research on urban infrastructures across Europe. Ross joined the Urban Studies department at the University of Glasgow in 2015 after six years in research and teaching positions at the Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space (IRS) in Germany. He initially held a Senior Research Fellowship with the Urban Studies Foundation before transitioning to his current role. His recent book, 'Cities Transform Democracy,' co-authored with Philippe Koch from ZHAW Zurich, was published by Polity Press in 2022. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Geography Compass and co-founded the Urban Political Podcast, which addresses contemporary urban issues through discussions with activists, scholars, and policymakers.
