Biography

Rossio Motta Ochoa is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work at the Université de Montréal. She holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Davis, where she specialized in medical anthropology, Science Technology Studies, feminist theories, and decolonial theories. Her research focuses on how medical technologies and interventions are designed and utilized by experts and non-experts to provide care to vulnerable populations, particularly Indigenous peoples in Peru and Canada. She has collaborated with physicians, scientists, engineers, community organizations, and users of these technologies to understand the intersection between knowledge production, care practices, neoliberal reforms, and public policy. Current research interests include tailored interventions for addiction services, art for healing, and medical technologies to improve health.
