Biography

Rossman D. Thompson Jr. has over 27 years of experience representing indigent persons charged with a variety of crimes in federal court. He works with high-risk offenders re-entering communities in the Philadelphia area as part of the Board of Judges Supervision Aid Re-entry Program (STAR), which is designed to assist these individuals in achieving community re-entry goals and preventing recidivism of violent crimes. Mr. Thompson has participated in panel presentations on issues related to Federal Re-entry, sponsored by the United States Sentencing Commission, the National Advocacy Center of the Department of Justice, and the National Conference of Chief United States Probation and Pre-trial Services Officers. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies from the College of Wooster and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and before becoming an Assistant Federal Defender, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable William F. Hall Jr., U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
