Biography

Roxana Willis is an Assistant Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) Law School since January 2023. Her research investigates legal systems through the lens of structural inequality, with a particular focus on class and race. Her monograph, "Precarious Life," presents a long-term ethnography of a disadvantaged housing estate in England and draws on legal anthropology, philosophical inquiry, and the history of ideas to provide fresh insights into criminal law. Additionally, Roxana explores interconnections across continents, examining similar themes of conflict, violence, and structural inequality in Cameroon. Before joining LSE, she lectured on Criminal Law at the University of Oxford for five years and taught Crime Policy at Universitat Pompeu Fabra for two years. Roxana has completed prestigious fellowships, including a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Junior Research Fellowship and a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship. She holds an LLB in Law and European Legal Studies from the University of Kent and Charles University, Prague, an LLM in International Economic Law from SOAS University of London, and a DPhil in Law from the University of Oxford.
