Biography

Ruaridh Macdonald is the Energy Systems Research Lead at the MIT Energy Initiative, where his research primarily focuses on decarbonizing electricity grid sectors through innovative technologies and policies that reduce the costs associated with the energy transition. His work emphasizes the importance of enhancing grid resilience and security. He is actively developing novel approaches to macro-energy system modeling, which enables the optimization of larger multi-sector energy systems over extended time periods. Ruaridh is also a co-lead developer of the GenX DOLPHYN macro-energy system models and has completed his PhD in Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT.
