Biography

Ruben Verresen is an Assistant Professor at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from KU Leuven, Belgium in 2012, followed by a Master of Science from the University of Cambridge in 2014. He completed his PhD in 2019 at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, Technical University of Dresden. Following his doctoral studies, Verresen worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University for four years, as part of the Harvard Quantum Initiative, and held a joint postdoctoral appointment at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests primarily revolve around Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Information, Topological Physics, Quantum Simulation, and Engineered Quantum Systems. He was awarded the Otto Hahn Medal by the Max Planck Society in 2021 for his exceptional contributions to the field.
