Biography

Ruchika Gajwani is a Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Psychology at the University of Glasgow, co-directing the Centre of Developmental Adversity and Resilience (CeDAR). She serves as an Honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in Cognitive Analytic Therapy, working within specialist children's services at NHS Greater Glasgow Clyde. Ruchika’s current research focuses on early intervention and prevention strategies in adolescent mental health, particularly among vulnerable and excluded children and young people. Her prominent projects involve randomised controlled trials and complex clinical studies addressing issues such as Borderline Personality Disorder in collaboration with various funding bodies including the Medical Research Council and NHS. Over the past two decades, she has dedicated her work to understanding risk and resilience in high-risk populations, conducting genetic, longitudinal, and qualitative research to inform health outcomes for marginalised youth. Ruchika is also involved in teaching and supervising doctorate and master's students in psychiatry and mental health, contributing to curriculum development and advancing knowledge in neurodevelopmental interventions, trauma, and resilience.
