Dr. Ruchika Karnik

Biography

Ruchika Karnik is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics specializing in Pediatric Cardiology at Yale School of Medicine. Her clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease from fetal development through adolescence. Dr. Karnik has a particular interest in non-invasive imaging techniques such as transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms. She provides care to children with acquired heart diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings, primarily at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. After completing her pediatric residency at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, she trained in Pediatric Cardiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Karnik is also passionate about medical education, serving as the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program at Yale since 2017. In addition to her clinical work, she is involved in research focusing on fetal heart defects and is a co-author on multiple publications related to her field. Dr. Karnik has received honors from prestigious organizations, including being named a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.
