Biography

Professor Rudolph Bonaparte serves as a part-time Professor Practice in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was appointed to this position in August 2016, after serving as the President and CEO of Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. for 20 years, during which the firm expanded to over 1,200 employees and more than 60 offices across seven countries. Bonaparte's leadership has been pivotal in establishing the company as a technical leader in environmental, water resources, geotechnical, structural engineering, and earth environmental sciences. At Georgia Tech, he is involved in the Global Engineering Leadership Minor program and focuses on developing leadership skills and attributes among students while teaching geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. His extensive professional practice includes roles as engineer-of-record and project manager for significant projects related to geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, such as contaminated site assessment and remediation, and waste disposal facility design. He is a registered professional engineer in 17 states and has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed technical papers, book chapters, and reports published by various federal agencies including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and NASA.
