Dr. Rudolph Glitz

Biography

Rudolph Glitz is an Assistant Professor in English Literature at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in interdisciplinary studies. He began his studies in Heidelberg and Berlin, focusing on Philosophy, German, and English before obtaining advanced degrees from Cambridge and Oxford in English Literature. Glitz has extensive teaching experience, having worked at Harlaxton College and coordinated various courses at the University of Amsterdam, including the core MA course 'Critical Approaches'. His research interests include post-1500 English literature, particularly Shakespeare, Romantic, Victorian, and Modernist poetry, as well as literature's relationship with scientific discourse and sociological theory. He supervises theses on these topics and is interested in the formation of age groups within literature. Glitz also contributes to cinema studies by organizing film nights and has a history of directing student performances and facilitating study trips abroad. He actively engages in departmental events and guest lectures, fostering connections in the academic community.
