Biography

Ruishan Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California, with a joint appointment in Quantitative Computational Biology. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2022, where he had the opportunity to work with Professor James Zou. Following his doctoral studies, Ruishan served as a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University from 2022 to 2024. He has been recognized as a Rising Star in Data Science and Engineering Health in 2022 and has received accolades for his project, Trial Pathfinder, aimed at making clinical trials more inclusive, which was selected as a Top Ten Clinical Research Achievement Finalist for the Global Pharma Award. Ruishan leads a laboratory dedicated to innovative machine learning solutions for health and biomedicine challenges, developing new algorithms that address issues in precision medicine and clinical trials.
