Biography

Rumiana lectured undergraduate courses in International Law and LL.M. courses in International Investment Law, International Human Rights Law, Global Governance, EU External Relations, and International Criminal Law. She supervises undergraduate students in International Law and European Union Law. Her research interests lie in general international law, particularly the sources and responsibility of states, settlement of international disputes, international investment law, and international human rights law. Rumiana is active in the field of international biomedical law and has published on the regulation of human germline editing from a human rights perspective. She wrote an expert report for the Nuffield Council on Bioethics regarding international regulation of germline editing and human rights approaches to healthcare. Rumiana has acted as counsel in international cases before the International Court of Justice and various investment tribunals and is involved in several research groups related to international bio law and human rights. She completed her PhD at Cambridge under the supervision of Prof. James Crawford.
