Biography

Rummana Alam is a Teaching Professor of Law at the University of Illinois College of Law, where she has been a member of the legal writing faculty since 2010. She holds a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Illinois College of Law. Additionally, she earned her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University. Rummana is licensed to practice law in Illinois, New York, and Ontario, Canada. Prior to her academic career, she practiced as an in-house contracts counsel at Carle Foundation Hospital, with a focus on health care transactional law. In Canada, she completed her articling with the City of Toronto’s legal department. Rummana teaches various courses including Legal Writing and Analysis, Introduction to Advocacy, and Drafting Transactions in Health Law Practice.
