Ruomeng Huang received undergraduate training in Physics in China and moved to the University of Southampton, completing an MSc in Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology in 2010 and a PhD in 2015. His doctoral research examined confined nanoscale chalcogenide phase-change materials for memory devices. He was awarded the EPSRC Doctoral Prize Research Fellowship, which supported the establishment of independent research activities focusing on functional chalcogenides and metal oxides for advanced electronic and energy-related applications. As part of the Sustainable Electronic Technologies group within the School of Electronics and Computer Science, Ruomeng joined the University of Southampton as a Lecturer in 2018 and was later promoted to Associate Professor in 2023. He has developed a competitive funding portfolio, serving major collaborative initiatives, including Deputy Director and Co-Investigator on a £10 million EPSRC Programme Grant, and the UK Lead and Co-Investigator on a €4.5 million Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network. With over 80 peer-reviewed journal publications and more than 40 presentations at national and international conferences, he collaborates actively within the research community as a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
