Dr. Ruslan Rust

Biography

Ruslan Rust is an Assistant Professor at the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. His research primarily focuses on overcoming existing limitations in cell therapies for stroke and Alzheimer's disease, employing advanced genetic, molecular, and computational tools. He utilizes cell sources such as induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cells and neural stem cells (NSCs) for his studies. One of the key areas of his work involves gene-edited transplants aimed at enhancing therapeutic efficacy while addressing challenges like graft delivery across the blood-brain barrier and immunocompatibility. Rust's research integrates cutting-edge technologies including in vivo imaging and deep learning-based behavioral profiling to develop comprehensive experimental pipelines.
