Biography

Russell Ainsworth is a Staff Attorney at the Exoneration Project and a Lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School. Since joining Loevy & Loevy in fall 2003, he has litigated numerous civil rights cases, including matters relating to wrongful convictions, police brutality, and discrimination claims. Ainsworth has tried several civil rights cases before juries and has argued appeals in the Seventh Circuit, Sixth Circuit, Illinois Supreme Court, and the Illinois Appellate Court. As a Lecturer, he co-teaches the Exoneration Project, a legal clinic focused on wrongful convictions, and has been involved since its inception in 2008. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2002 and subsequently clerked for Judge Lundsten in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Ainsworth is admitted to practice in the Illinois Supreme Court and various district courts across the region, including Northern, Central, and Southern District Courts of Illinois.
