Biography

Professor Berman joined Stanford's faculty in 1979 and has been a significant contributor in the field of Humanities and Comparative Literature. He was awarded a Mellon Faculty Fellowship and the Bundesverdienstkreuz by the Federal Republic of Germany. Berman has served in various administrative capacities at Stanford, including Chair of German Studies and Director of the Overseas Studies Program.
