Biography

Russell Dupuis holds the Steve W. Chaddick Endowed Chair in Electro-Optics and is an Eminent Scholar at Georgia Tech's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a joint appointment in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. He obtained his BSEE with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1970, followed by an MSEE in 1971 and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1973. He joined the University of Texas at Austin in 1989, where he established the Advanced Materials and Devices Group, focusing on innovative MOCVD processes to create device-quality heterostructures and quantum wells. His recent research involves MOCVD growth of heteroepitaxial InAlGaN lasers, LEDs, and high-power transistors, as well as studying native oxide materials in III-V compounds. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a recognition of professional excellence in the engineering field.
