Biography

Russell Gentry is a Professor in the School of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he teaches graduate courses in building structures, computationally-driven fabrication, and construction integration. He is also the Acting Director of the Digital Building Lab and serves as Associate Dean of Faculty in the College of Design. Gentry holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on structures from the University of Michigan and has extensive experience in research related to composite materials and structural engineering. Gentry is a licensed structural engineer and has chaired the ASTM D30.10 committee on Composites for Civil Structures. He is involved in NSF-sponsored initiatives to explore alternative uses for decommissioned composite wind turbine blades, actively contributing to advancements in sustainable engineering practices. His research interests include the integration of information technology in architecture, the development of new structural material systems, and the emphasis on ensuring efficient information flows to support structural design and construction.
