Biography

Professor Russell Tedrake is a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His research focus is on elegant control solutions for underactuated systems, stochastic control, and complex dynamical systems. He leads a research group dedicated to developing motor control systems that enable both animals and machines to perform dynamically dexterous tasks in uncertain environments. Tedrake believes that the design of control systems is intimately connected to the mechanical design of machines. His current projects involve creating robust and efficient bipedal locomotion on flat terrain, facilitating multi-legged locomotion in extreme environments, and controlling flapping-winged flight as well as feedback control in fluid dynamics.
