Dr. Rustom Desai

Biography

Rustom Desai brings over 25 years of demonstrated success as a technology executive. In his role at Corning Incorporated, he has held leadership positions across technology-heavy industries, including semiconductors, consumer electronics, and telecommunications. He has consistently delivered dramatic growth by building strong, diverse global teams and possesses deep experience in general management, product management, and mergers and acquisitions, particularly in global and emerging markets. As a global citizen, Desai has lived and worked in China, Taiwan, and India. He has extensive governance expertise, having served on the boards of public companies, joint ventures, and family-owned businesses. Desai is also an independent director and the chair of the Nomination & Remuneration Committee for a publicly traded, woman-run, family-controlled company. He is recognized as a relentless proponent of profitable global growth and contributes to advisory boards, including Logix Guru and the Emerging Markets Institute at Cornell. As a visiting senior lecturer at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, Desai teaches the popular course Strategic Alliances, providing students with real-world strategies for managing alliances. He continues to integrate artificial intelligence into his course materials.
