Biography

Rustum Choksi is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University. He completed his PhD at Brown University in 1994 after obtaining an SM from the same institution in 1991 and a BSc from the University of Toronto in 1989. He has held postdoctoral positions at the Courant Institute, New York University from 1995 to 1997, and the Center for Nonlinear Analysis, Carnegie-Mellon University from 1994 to 1995. He is particularly interested in variational problems, partial differential equations, and optimization, with significant applications in mathematical modeling, scientific computing, and image processing. Choksi serves on the editorial board for journals such as the Journal of Nonlinear Science and works on undergraduate texts in applied mathematics. He is also actively involved with the Spectra Association for LGBTQ+ Mathematicians.
