Dr. Ruth Bush

Biography

Ruth Bush has over 20 years of experience in health informatics, focusing on large healthcare databases and human-computer interaction across various settings, including military treatment facilities, academic hospitals, and community-based clinics. She has initiated and developed clinical research studies and provided statistical consultations on projects concerning patient-centered outcomes, women's health, traumatic brain injury, and birth defects. Dr. Bush is the Principal Investigator of the Adolescent Disease Autonomy using Patient Portal Technology (ADAPPT), which investigates the impact of pediatric patient portal use on engagement. She also received funding from AHRQ and PCORI, concentrating on patient-centered outcomes using electronic health records, especially for vulnerable populations. Dr. Bush has contributed to the creation of interdisciplinary teams to improve the transition of care for teenagers with Spina Bifida and has focused her current work on digital health education and structured electronic data capture. She is affiliated with the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles. In 2018, she became part of the inaugural cohort of AMIA Fellows.
