Biography

Ruth Craggs joined the Department of Geography at King's College London as a Lecturer in Human Geography in July 2013, having previously held appointments at the University of Hull and St Mary's University College. Her work explores historical geography and decolonization, demonstrating the important legacies of twentieth-century decolonization on geopolitics and cultural knowledge between the UK and Africa. Her research interests include postcolonial geopolitics, diplomacy, and the impacts of decolonization on the discipline of geography. Craggs has received a Leverhulme Research Grant for a major project that focuses on postcolonial state-building and diplomatic training in Africa, specifically examining the relationship between historical and contemporary political practices. She also supervises postgraduate research at the doctoral level and is involved in various teaching courses related to human geography, urbanism, and geopolitics.
