Biography

Ruth King joined the University of Edinburgh in 2015 as the Thomas Bayes' Chair of Statistics. She previously held the position of lecturer and reader in Statistics at the University of St Andrews from 2003 to 2015. King has made significant contributions to environmental statistics and was awarded the Royal Statistical Society Barnett Award in 2022. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Her educational background includes a PhD from the University of Bristol, obtained in 2001, and a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, where she graduated with first-class honors in 1998.
