Biography

Professor Müller’s research focuses on the interdisciplinary field of Science & Technology Studies (STS). Her research explores the interactions between research policy, institutional values, and academic knowledge cultures, as well as norms and practices in academic career development. She examines sociology and epistemology within the life sciences and addresses questions related to gender diversity in knowledge work cultures, particularly in natural engineering sciences. After studying molecular biology at the University of Vienna from 2000 to 2007, she became increasingly interested in the interactions of science, technology, and society. This led her to join the Department of Science and Technology Studies at Vienna University in 2005, where she received an M.Sc. in 2007 and completed her PhD research in 2012. She served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Austrian Institute of International Affairs (2012-2013) and was part of the Research Policy Group at Lund University (2013-2015). Additionally, she was a visiting researcher at the Science & Justice Research Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2010, 2011, and 2014. In February 2015, she took up a tenure track professorship in science and technology policy at TUM's Munich Center for Technology and Society (MCTS).
