Dr. Ruth Panofsky

Biography

Ruth Panofsky is a distinguished academic specializing in Canadian Publishing History, Authorship Studies, Textual Scholarship, Canadian Jewish Literature, and Holocaust Literature. As a Professor in the Department of English at Toronto Metropolitan University, she contributes to various graduate programs, including the Master of Arts in Literatures of Modernity and the Master of Arts in Immigration and Settlement Studies. Panofsky is recognized as a leading scholar in the field of publishing and authorship in Canada, particularly in relation to Canadian Jewish literature, where her pioneering research has opened new avenues of inquiry and brought lesser-known literary figures into scholarly focus. Her work has garnered several prestigious awards and fellowships from organizations such as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts. Panofsky has also been honored with the Louis Rosenberg Canadian Jewish Studies Distinguished Service Award and the Sarwan Sahota Distinguished Scholar Award for her outstanding contributions to knowledge in artistic creativity. She has held visiting appointments at several universities, including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Florida Atlantic University, and serves as an editor for Book History and Advisory Board member for Authorship.
