Biography

Ruud van den Beuken is an Assistant Professor of English Literature at Radboud University, specializing in postcolonial studies and cultural memory. He earned his PhD cum laude in April 2017 with a thesis on national identity formation in Irish drama. His monograph, 'Avant-Garde Nationalism Dublin Gate Theatre, 1928–1940', was published by Syracuse University Press in 2021. He was awarded the Irish Society Theatre Research New Scholars' Prize in 2015 and the Education Award as Junior Lecturer in 2017. His research interests include Brexit theatre, the Dublin Gate Theatre, and modernist poetry. He has served as the Assistant Director of the NWO-funded Gate Theatre Research Network and held a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Moore Institute, NUIG in 2018. As Programme Director of the Radboud Honours Academy, he coordinates intercultural dynamics within the Faculty of Arts.
