Biography

Ryan Frazer is an Associate Research Fellow at Macquarie University, involved in an Australian Research Council-funded project that explores help-seeking and help-giving practices in Indigenous communities. His PhD research examined the politics of volunteering through a mentoring program that supported refugees. Influenced by the works of Deleuze and Guattari, his project rethinks the political dimensions of care, specifically how care can be mobilized or immobilized within refugee contexts. Frazer's work bridges interdisciplinary approaches to geography and care, contributing to the understanding of what enables care practices and the spatial politics of volunteering. He holds a Doctorate in Human Geography from the University of Wollongong, where his thesis addressed the limits of care and the dynamics of care assemblages. He has also earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, both from the University of Wollongong.
