Biography

Ryan George has been teaching undergraduates in the University of Waterloo's Department of Economics since the Fall of 2011. He has a strong appreciation for the crystalline world of mathematics which enhances his teaching of math and statistics to economists, as well as micro-economic theory. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of historical inquiry as complementary to the field of economics, and he is committed to fostering an engaging learning environment for his students. His research interests concern the history of colonialism, land appropriation, and urban development in Ontario from the 19th century to the mid-20th century. He holds multiple degrees including a BSc in Economics, a BA in History from Victoria, an MA in Economics from Toronto, an MA in History from York, and a PhD in History from McMaster.
