Ryan Heuser is a literary historian and computational humanist with fifteen years of experience in researching and teaching in digital humanities. He received his doctoral training in eighteenth-century British literature, completing his dissertation in 2019 at Stanford University’s English department. At Stanford, he was a founding member and Associate Research Director of the Stanford Literary Lab, where he led the computational development and experimental design of various projects, making significant contributions through five publications. From 2019 to 2022, he served as a Junior Research Fellow at King’s College, Cambridge, where he supervised students in English literature and Practical Criticism. He also taught a workshop at the Center for Digital Humanities titled ‘Automating the Bechdel Test: Computing Gender Bias in Media’ and played a role in reviewing and establishing the MPhil program. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities in the Cambridge Digital Humanities program.
