Dr. Ryan Liss

Biography

Ryan Liss is an Assistant Professor at Western Law, Co-Director of the Public Private International Law Research Group, and a recognized scholar in public international law. His research interests encompass various areas including international human rights law, international criminal law, and international humanitarian law. Liss's work examines the interplay between human rights and state power, and he has published in numerous esteemed journals, including the American Journal of International Law and the Michigan Journal of International Law. He is currently working on a monograph contracted with Oxford University Press. After obtaining his J.D. from the University of Toronto and LL.M. and J.S.D. from Yale Law School, he served as an Associate-in-Law at Columbia Law School and held various fellowships, including at the Schell Centre for International Human Rights at Yale. Liss has clerked for Chief Justice Warren Winkler and gained experience working with the International Criminal Court. He has received multiple accolades, including the Dean's Research Fellow award and the Outstanding Emerging Scholar Research Excellence Award from Western University.
