Biography

Dr. Ryan McAdams is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He has dedicated his career to improving neonatal outcomes both locally and globally, focusing on neurodevelopmental outcomes for children. With extensive experience as a neonatologist in the United States Air Force, he has worked in various humanitarian efforts across countries like Peru, Mongolia, Cambodia, Zambia, Malawi, and Uganda. His research interests include utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning strategies to enhance neonatal safety and health, as well as developing virtual reality simulation models for better education and training in pediatric care. In addition to his clinical work at UnityPoint Health-Meriter American Family Children’s Hospital NICUs, he is actively involved in promoting equity and health advocacy for children, serving on the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism Committee within the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. McAdams is passionate about collaboration, working closely with students, residents, fellows, nurses, and colleagues to provide the best care for neonates.
