Biography

Ryan joined the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) team in 2022 as a trainee health economist. He previously worked at the Clinical Trials Unit Beatson West Scotland Cancer Centre as a junior doctor in South-East Scotland. Ryan obtained his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2018 and completed his MSc in Precision Medicine and Pharmacological Innovation at the University of Glasgow in 2020, graduating with distinction. His research interests include the analysis of linked health data, evidence synthesis, and the economics of precision medicine, with a focus on economic evaluation alongside clinical trials, particularly in the field of oncology. Ryan represents the HEHTA community engagement research group within the School of Health and Wellbeing and has been involved in the development of the Byres Community Hub at the Clarice Pears Building. He is also a member of the SHW Athena Swan LGBTQ+ working group. Currently, Ryan supervises MSc HTA dissertation projects and teaches MSc HTA courses, including Real-world Data in Healthcare Decision Making (MED5378) and Health Economics and HTA (MED5023).
