Biography

Ryan Orszulik joined York University as an Associate Professor and Graduate Attribute Lead in the Lassonde School of Engineering in 2019. He received his Ph.D. and has been an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Mechanics at Otto von Guericke University, Magdeburg. Additionally, he was a NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University's Microrobotics Lab and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. Orszulik's research focuses on active vibration control, membrane control of synthetic aperture radar antennas, and flight-qualified nanometer-level positioning systems. His research leverages smart materials, specifically piezoelectrics and shape memory alloys, to create innovative instrumentation. He is particularly interested in the intelligent design of robotic mechatronic systems, developing dynamic models, discovering new fabrication techniques, and utilizing advanced control methods. His research contributes significantly to the fields of robotics and engineering design.
