Dr. Ryan Wang

Biography

Ryan Wang obtained his PhD in Chemistry from Peking University in 2012. He was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for coal research in Germany from 2012 to 2015, where he focused on advanced materials for energy applications. In January 2016, he joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at University College London as a Lecturer, gaining an appointment as an Associate Professor in 2021 and subsequently being promoted to full Professor in 2025. Dr. Wang has contributed significantly to the field of chemical engineering and catalysis, earning the Young Scientist Prize from the International Association of Catalysis Societies in 2016. He is an active member of the Early Career Advisory Board for the Journal ChemCatChem and has participated in the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s (EPSRC) Strategic Advisory Team for capital equipment. His research interests include sustainable energy technologies and their integration into urban infrastructures, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of affordable clean energy and sustainable cities and communities.
