Dr. Rylan Lundgren

Biography

Rylan Lundgren is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba and a Ph.D. from Dalhousie University. Dr. Lundgren is an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow, having worked at both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the California Institute of Technology. His research group focuses on catalysis, organometallic chemistry, and synthesis reactivity. Lundgren's specific interests include developing novel oxidative coupling reactions, dual substrate activation strategies for olefin functionalizations, and new methods for generating single-electron reductants. He also explores strained unsaturated cyclic molecules as potential reagents for bioconjugation click reactions. Lundgren teaches introductory chemistry courses at the university level, including CHEM 101 and CHEM 103, where he emphasizes atoms, molecules, states of matter, and the fundamental principles of chemistry. His publications reflect his extensive research in catalysis and organic chemistry, contributing to advancements in the field.
