Biography

Ryoa Chung is the President of the Canadian Philosophical Association (2024-2025) and a Full Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Université de Montréal. She received a research prize from the French Red Cross Foundation in 2023 at Sciences Po in Paris and an excellence in teaching award in 2005 from her faculty. Chung completed her doctorate in philosophy at the Université de Montréal in 2001 under the supervision of Daniel M. Weinstock, and has served as a visiting scholar at both Columbia University and Harvard School of Public Health. Her research has been published in various journals including the Journal of Social Philosophy and the Canadian Journal of Philosophy. She has contributed to numerous edited volumes and is currently working on a monograph titled "Political Philosophy and Health Inequalities." Chung has presented her work at academic conferences in multiple countries and is involved in research projects focusing on social innovation, health justice, and ethical issues related to health inequalities. Her current research explores structural epistemic injustices and their role in health disparities.
