Dr. S Ghiaasiaan

Biography

S. Mostafa Ghiaasiaan is a Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology's George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. He joined Georgia Tech in 1991, bringing a wealth of experience from his previous role as a Senior Staff Scientist at Science Applications International Corporation. His research focuses on Heat Transfer, Combustion, and Energy Systems, along with specialized areas such as Nuclear Radiological Engineering and Medical Physics. Dr. Ghiaasiaan has conducted extensive research on multiphase flow, aerosol particle transport, and microscale heat transfer. He has also worked on topics related to nuclear reactor thermohydraulics safety and cryogenics, particularly within the Georgia Tech Cryo Lab, which he has actively contributed to through theoretical and computational modeling of multiphase flow processes and cryocoolers. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 2004 and serves as the Executive Editor for the Annals of Nuclear Energy spanning regions in Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, and Africa since 2006. Dr. Ghiaasiaan is also a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in California since 1987.
