Dr. S Paik

Biography

Dr. S. Margaret Paik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago, with a clinical focus on Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Her clinical interests include asthma management, MRSA infections, and pediatric orthopedic trauma. Dr. Paik has contributed significantly to the field of pediatric emergency medicine, particularly in the care of pediatric asthma within an Emergency Department setting. She has worked extensively with medical students, residents, and fellows, taking on the role of advisor and educator in clinical environments. Currently, she serves as the Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Paik completed her fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Columbus Children's Hospital in 1992, her residency in Pediatrics at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in 1989, and earned her MD from Temple University School of Medicine in 1986. She also holds an AB in Biology from Cornell University, obtained in 1982. Her research has included pivotal studies focusing on asthma management and interventions in children, with a commitment to improving care transitions for asthma patients in emergency settings.
