Professor Asokanthan's research interests are in the areas of Dynamic Systems and Control as applied, in particular, to Flexible Structures and Rotating and Axially Moving Flexible Multi-body Systems. Specific applications cover a range of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biological Systems. Prior to joining the University of Western Ontario in January 2002, Professor Asokanthan held a faculty position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He gained industrial research and development experience in Inertial Stabilization and Control, working as a NSERC industrial postdoctoral research fellow in Canada after completing his PhD at the University of Waterloo.
